Burn Test Log

Burn Test Log

Wick testing is how good candles are made. Log every burn session for a test candle — melt pool, flame, scent throw, and hours — and your notes are saved in this browser so you can track a test across days or weeks.

Burn Timer

Time a live burn, then Stop & log drops the hours into the form below — fill in the rest and hit Add Entry. The timer keeps running if you reload the page. If you stop before about 3 minutes, the hours will show 0.0 — just edit the number before you save.

What to look for:
  • Melt pool: should reach edge-to-edge by hour 2–4 for most containers. If it never reaches the edge, the wick is too small.
  • Flame: roughly 1 inch tall, steady, teardrop-shaped. Constant flickering or smoking means something is off.
  • Throw, mushrooming, soot, tunneling: log them every session — cold throw before lighting, hot throw during the burn. Patterns across sessions tell you more than any single burn.
  • Safety: never burn more than 4 hours at a time, trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each session.

Your log is saved automatically in this browser (localStorage) — it stays on this device and isn’t sent anywhere.
