A one-page bonus for candle makers starting a newsletter — everything below, done in a weekend. Check things off as you go; your progress saves in this browser.

Before you send anything

  • Pick your sender name (your business name, not “noreply”) and a reply-to address you actually check.
  • Add your logo and brand colors so the welcome email looks like your shop.
  • Write a one-sentence promise for your signup form: what readers get and how often (example: “New scents, restocks, and maker tips — twice a month”).
  • Put the signup form everywhere a buyer already looks: website footer, order confirmation page, and a QR code on your packing slip.

Your first three emails (write these before launch)

  • Email 1 — the welcome: thank them, deliver the promise from the signup form, link your bestsellers.
  • Email 2 — your story: why you started making candles, one photo of your workspace. People buy from people.
  • Email 3 — a useful tip (wick trimming, first-burn rules) with a soft mention of the candle it applies to.

Grow the list

  • Import your existing customer emails (Etsy/Shopify order exports — only people who agreed to marketing).
  • Turn on the referral program: reward subscribers who bring friends (early access to a seasonal scent works).
  • Mention the newsletter in your Facebook group posts when it’s genuinely helpful — never spam the link.

Make it pay

  • Every email has one clear next step (shop the restock, read the guide, reply with a scent request).
  • Track which emails get opened and clicked; send more of what works.
  • Once a quarter, run a subscriber-only offer — your list should be your cheapest sales channel.
