Total batch size
Fragrance oil displaces wax, so wax is calculated as total fill minus fragrance oil. 1 oz = 28.35 g.
How do I calculate how much fragrance oil I need?
Multiply your total wax weight by your fragrance load percentage. For example, 16 oz of wax at an 8% load needs 1.28 oz of fragrance oil. Our calculator does the math for you, accounting for the fact that fragrance oil displaces wax.
What is a good fragrance load for soy candles?
Most soy waxes handle 6–10% fragrance load. Start at 8% and adjust based on scent throw and your wax supplier’s recommendations.
Should I measure wax and fragrance by weight or volume?
Always by weight. Volume measurements are inconsistent, especially with fragrance oils. Use a digital scale for every batch.
